Homemade tomato sauce


I tried to make this sauce without a blender and it didn't work; so my impression is that you need a blender or food processor to make any kind of sauce. 
1. Blend fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil. 
2. Boil this mixture in a sauce pan until it thickens. 
3. Add it to your spaghetti.  

I like this sauce, because I made it from tomatoes versus, buying it at the store. However, it didn't have as much flavor as I had hoped.  I suggest experimenting with different spices and amounts, different tomato varieties(maybe even homegrown tomatoes), and I also think adding sugar might help.  Not all brands add sugar to their tomato sauce, but some do. For inspiration, you can look on the ingredients list of your favorite brands to see how they made it taste so good.
